        تعد قضية المواطنة والوطنية من القضايا المهمة التي شغلت کثير من المفکرين، والفلاسفة، ودعاة السلام العالمي والأخلاق، من بين هؤلاء ستيفن ناثانسون الذي تناول القضية من منظور سياسي، وأخلاقي، وعالمي؛ حيث دعا للمواطنة العالمية المرتبطة بالمنفعة العامة، وخاصة من منطلق نفعية القواعد الأخلاقية، کما کان لاهتمامه بالوطنية النصيب الأکبر في فلسفته، فأوضح المقصود بها، وفرَّق بين أنواع الوطنية المختلفة التي اتفق معها في جانب واختلف معها في جوانب أخرى، وقدَّم نوعًا جديدًا للوطنية سماه "الوطنية المعتدلة"، وحدَّد سمات الوطني المعتدل، وموقفه من التحيز والحيادية تجاه مواطني الدول الأخرى، وأکد أن ضياع الوطنية ذات الطابع العالمي والإنساني هو الطريق لنشوب الحروب واندلاعها.
Abstract
 
        The issue of citizenship and patriotism is one of the important issues that preoccupied many thinkers, philosophers, and advocates of world peace and ethics, one of them is Stephen Nathanson, who addressed the issue from a political, moral and global perspective. He called for global citizenship associated with public benefit. As he was interested in patriotism, the largest part of his philosophy dealt with this theme, he explained the meaning of it, and the difference between the different patriotic types that agreed with them on one side and disagreed with in other aspects, and introduced a new kind of patriotism called "moderate patriotism", and identified the characteristics of the moderate patriotic, and hisattitude towards prejudice and impartiality towards the citizens of other countries, And stressed that the loss of patriotism of a universal and humanitarian character is the way to war and its outbre
